Daniel and I went to GhostCat studios in San Francisco on March 5th, 2015 to record some Flute and Kora Improvisations. I initially intended to use some of the best parts on my next meditation CD release (which I still intend to do), but we recorded so many wonderful pieces, I had to release them as an EP.
The Kora is a West African harp masterfully played by Daniel who studied the instrument in Ghana years back with master players. The Flute and Kora are a magical musical match, providing listeners with a sweet and delicate emotional journey.
One of the recording challenges that day was the rumble and rattle of the street being paved outside (the LUCK!) but we forged ahead anyway and created some beautiful music. The rumble simply became part of the recording journey with us.
Playing with Daniel is a wonderful and magical experience. I've been lucky to work with him on our Hammer Inventions piano project and this music is simply another extension of our ongoing musical conversation. Special Thanks to Ryan Kleeman and Jay Marston for engineering and making food and for providing one of the most magical recording spots in town.
Enjoy this relaxing and meditative journey with us into the wonder and perfect imperfection of Improvisation
